Geographe Bay Music

Geographe Bay Music

Geographe Bay Music (GBM) is unique in that it is the only music programme in WA that operates across multiple secondary school sites. The programme is made up of students from Cape Naturaliste College, Busselton Senior High School and local primary schools.

Students have the opportunity to learn an instrument through the Instrumental Music School Services (IMSS) programme and when ready, will participate in one of our many ensembles. These include:

  • Senior, Intermediate and Junior Concert Bands
  • Jazz Bands 1 and 2
  • Contemporary Ensemble
  • Classical Guitar Ensemble

These ensembles are involved in a number of performances throughout the year ranging from School Band Festivals, tours and community performances, through to school-based performances.

Students who were in the IMSS programme in primary school are automatically included in the GBM programme. There is the opportunity for new students to complete testing and enter at the Year 7 level. Students who are accepted at this level have the option of learning an instrument and these include contemporary guitar, bass guitar, saxophone, percussion, and some brass instruments. These places are strictly limited and subject to availability. Students who receive instrumental lessons must also be involved with the Class Music programme at Cape Naturaliste College for the duration of their tuition.
